The Chicago Environmental Leadership Initiative

CELI is an online platform for students who are interested in learning about environmental injustices in their everyday life and communities in Chicago and the surrounding area

Background

Covid-19 disrupted businesses and organizations around the globe including CELI. Prior to 2020 CELI’s courses and lessons were solely in person. Participants would come on site to learn and take courses on environmental justices.

Personal Reflection

This was a very rewarding case study to participate in. The CELI online educational platform has a lot of room to grow and many features can be added in to the site as the organization continues to grow and expand. One of the most important things that I learned was to probe as much as you can during the interview and testing process. The more information and feedback you have the better. We had a few hangups with interviews and testing during some the rounds due to cancellations, but we were still able to work around having a little less feedback during the 2nd and 3rd interview and testing rounds. I learned that a solid line of communication is important and it’s okay to plan for back up interviews etc while testing. It’s better to have too much and trim than not enough. Next go round we could utilize Trello a little more individual tasks to help with organization and communication within the team.
